In his recent autobiography, Steven Gerrard tells of two England players refusing to walk 50 yards for a massage during that miserable 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The most interesting revelation was that captain Gerrard didn’t tear a strip off the miscreants at the time. Instead, he did the decent thing — stored up the anecdote and used it to sell book serialisation rights. Wouldn’t want to rock the boat now would we?
