Some things are more important: Quality of life; that "Old Florida" feel. Of course, next time a similar question comes up, these same taxpayers could flip on a dime and breathe fire over public officials' profligacy. As a public official, it's hard to swim against this tide — which is why I predicted the Stuart commission would instead take the easy road.
