According to Prusian law, a man who had reached his majority did not need the consent of his parents to the marriage contract; but as I had not, according to the same law, as yet reached my majority, I had recourse to the laws of Saxony, to which I belonged by birth and by whose statutes I had come of age at twenty-one.
